The Great Slowing

I.
The catalyst, I thought it broke me.
It broke old perspective.

II.
The breakdown
was the rebuild I needed—
a seeding ground
for growth.

III.
The weight of loss,
the heaviness of heartbreak—
I moved so slowly.
I stopped chasing,
running,
expecting.

I let go.
And I began
to really live.

Healing is an intensive slowing.
A careful registry of breath,
next breath,
feeling in my belly
and my chest.

Beauty is far more prevalent
than I ever knew
before the great slowing
of my life.
