The Weight of Pride

I.
“Pride is not your confidence nor self-esteem, Love,”
He says to me with a soft smirk and wink.

I feel His words peel me to humility—
it is lovely to be stripped by Him like this,
undressed to dress in soul.

II.
“What is the answer to pride?” I ask Him.

“Letting go—to Me.”
Loki’s eyes, danger and flint,
spark over my body
as I heat up in love with Him.

He takes the weight of pride off me
and thanks me for my trust.

III.
I feel gladness in my work and life,
hopeful in my learning.

When pride comes up,
I gratefully set that self-harming sword in His hands.
It’s too heavy for me to wield and manage
without it slipping from my grasp.
