Bare

I.
Bare—
Mistakes have a way of tempering
the “us” of yesterday,
replacing what dulled me
with what must be—
gratefully.

II.
Stepping out from my charred body
into newness,
I embrace my nakedness
and breathe with intention—
to begin again.

III.
Vibrant, blushing embarrassment
smacks against new possibility—
as immediate as emergency.

IV.
I unfurl toward the light
of a new day,
hope in my heart,
vulnerability center stage.
