Divine Webbing

I.
You move over me
under our soft-knit blanket.
I feel Your warmth pressed against my bottom—
I cave into You, delicious flame,
every sensation a point of need
lit for Your taking.

II.
“The pastry in the kitchen,”
You remind me.
“Sticky buns.”
I flush, delighted
at Your humor.

III.
“Is this what you wanted?” He asks.
“Yes,” I whisper—
the blaze between us,
His signature.
I relax in it,
knowing I am safe.

IV.
I bought the sweet bread
because it reminds me of schoolgirl days,
when buttery, nutty treats
made the whole day wonderful.
Starting out like that.

V.
You know me—head to heel,
to curling toes.
The sweet, buttery sauce coats our lips
as we kiss,
drinking each other in the glow.

VI.
Sugar tensile between us,
divine webbing crackling.
Foreheads press together
as we come up for air—
my smile breaking,
Your grin, sinister with mischief.

VII.
Black licorice laces around my wrists.
“You’ll have to work your way out of these,” You tell me.
My favorite autumn treat—
its quirkiness, its ridiculous pleasure
has me giggling,
my child’s heart free
to play with You.
