I.
I am partial to the sun’s bite,
fiery teeth, a steam-cloud
staining my night with heat.
II.
Eclipse me a little, just a touch,
slow and coy — not too quick.
Set the world alight; teach us survival,
teach us how to live by wild law again.
III.
Touch souls with wonder and awe;
let icy fear tip raw and mock
the stubborn resistances to being human,
to being held in a universe of miracle and rapture.
Dark and light coexist, whispers the eclipse.
