I
My heart prayed for you—
When I was a child.
She sang for you to come true,
Not for any other reason but love.
I wanted to be love—
And someone to be love with me.
I placed my intentions in earth—
Stones, root—
Every pine tree.
Bearing floral headdresses—
I’d worn the sun—
Hoped faithfully—
And watered my resolve with belief.
I knew you were true,
And that I was true too—
And someday we’d meet.
II
He touches me creatively—
Knowing it’s my need to explore my body—
His body—
With curiosity and innocence.
Hurts can confess in a space like this—
Where shame no longer exists—
And only the kisses meant—
Are kept.
III
I cover my eyes with palms—
He takes me into His arms—
Kisses my hands away from my face—
Healing me of all I’ve seen
I wish I hadn’t—
Allowing me to experience Him;
Something different.
IV
My heart shatters—
Into soft hail of fire sparks—
Showering over you.
I am broken from—
The past—
To alive; wings untethered—
Cageless.
