I.
Be careful who you try to enslave.
She turns around and takes up her chains—
Pulling him down to his knees, dragging him in—
The slave master becomes the play thing.
Terror crosses his face—
Now realizing she’d played the long game.
II.
I watched.
I consumed the energy of the place I was held captive.
I felt the cold and let it mark my bones—
Awakening the ancestors.
III.
I knew—
This was the darkness I would expose in.
Lit up as far as the eye can imagine.
My light grew,
Keyed up notch by notch, as you dragged me down into hell—
Like I couldn’t grow there, too.
